For the love of Starbucks (Extended Edition) | Olde Towne, Portsmouth Family Photographer

I was so excited about this shoot as we’re friends with this family from church.  I knew it was going to be a bit of a challenge, because hello?!  Three teenagers??  Three teenagers that would really have preferred to have been anywhere else than hanging out with their siblings.  =)  But we had a lot of fun and got a lot of great shots of everyone, individually and as a family.  The next couple of years are big years of transition for the R/S family as the kids get older, start moving out, doing new things and going to new schools.  I’m so glad that C+K have these pictures to freeze time, so that when all of the kids are out of the house, they can look back at this time like it was yesterday.  =)

We had a great time walking ALL AROUND Olde Towne.  I love how there are so many places to shoot!  Such a great location for urban AND garden backgrounds.  Love Olde Towne!

Anyway, you’re not here for my writing skills, are you?  On with the pictures!

New OpLove sessions coming soon | Norfolk Military Homecoming Photographer

My poor blog has been so neglected this winter!  As an on-location photographer, I don’t do many sessions in the winter, so there’s less for me to blog about, unfortunately.  I’ve been putting all of my cold weather focus onto my boudoir business, so while blog has been busy, this one has been languishing in the cold.

Not for much longer, though!  I have one family session and two Operation Love: Reunited military homecoming sessions to post in the next few days.  With Hampton Roads having such a large military community and so many bases, there are certainly no shortage of OpLove homecoming session opportunities.  I routinely have to turn away many, many families for each homecoming as there just aren’t enough OpLove photographers to accommodate everyone’s special day.  If you’re a photographer, we need you!  Please check out OpLove for information on how you can give back to military families that give up so much for their country.

Anyway, check back for new sessions ASAP!  I hope to post one tonight, depending on how the whole homework/shower/dinner/bedtime routine goes for my daughter and I tonight.  =)

Look into our eyes (Extended Edition) | Olde Towne, Portsmouth VA Family Photographer

This family is so dear to me as the mama and I go back to our teen years!  We were in a band together in high school.  =)  She was a dear friend to me back then and she is again now.  I’m so lucky to have someone in my life that has known me for so long.  There’s just something special about friendships that span decades.  There’s a realness to them that only comes with time, I think.  And now our kids play together!  It’s amazing.  And so is the C family.  =)

Check out these goodies from our shoot.

This is one of my favorite shots of all time!!

Look at this toothy smile!

For the love of Starbucks (Sneak Peek) | Olde Towne Portsmouth Family Photography

Halloween was a crazy busy day for me this year!  First, my in-laws were in town and we’d had a late night on Saturday going to Fright Night at the zoo and then to Rajput for dinner.  Indian!  Yum!  Eliza had even had a late night on Friday night, so two late nights in a row meant for a tired little lade come Sunday morning.  We had to get Eliza dressed in her costume for church as all of the kids dress up for Halloween at UCN.  After church, we went to Moe’s for lunch, as we always do.  Then it was home for me and to a fall carnival for Eliza and Stephen.  I had to get back so that I could get ready for my much anticipated shoot with the Rood-Sebastian family!

I’m a big fan of the Rood-Sebastian clan.  Steve and I taught the eldest boys, [B] and [Z], for a class at church.  [J], the youngest, is just the sweetest kid you’ve ever met.  Always has a great smile and a nice word.  It was my first time having the pleasure of meeting the lone young lady of the clan, [K].  I can only offer hugs for having three brothers to deal with.  =)  And I can’t say enough about Carol and Karol (yes, you read that right).  Someone needs to host Bunco again soon so that I can finally hang out with them again!  They are some seriously busy ladies!

We had a great time walking around Olde Towne and discovering a few new nooks and crannies I’d not yet discovered.  Of course, the boys were ready to call it a day after the first 5-6 shots, but they persevered on like troopers.  =)  Threats of posting goofy pictures on Facebook and tagging all of their friends worked pretty well, but it was the lure of Starbucks that was the REAL winner.

With all of the Halloween craziness, I’m a bit late in posting the sneak peek, but I hope y’all love it, Rood-Sebastians!
